Scotland’s media virtually all oppose our return to Independence. Virtually all media in Scotland is owned by UK companies or foriegn billionares who are opposed to Scotland becoming independent.
UK media actively opposes the independence agenda
Whether print, online or broadcast – Scotland’s media almost entirely run by UK organisations opposed to the concept of Scottish independence. This includes the national public broadcaster, the BBC, which we must fund via the licence fee but over which we have no control.
It includes left wing media outlets like The Guardian just as much as the right wing suspects such as the Daily Express, Times or Telegraph. Wherever you look you will find only an anti-Scottish Government message.
This bias is unique to Scotland. If you look at how these organisations perform in Wales, for example, they are much more balanced in their reporting of news and current affairs and will rarely criticise the Welsh Government without justification.
If you want to see this bias for yourself review the regular posts of @MSMMonitor – or compare for yourself the reporting of the same story by e.g. the BBC in Wales or England vs Scotland. Try this example of how BBC Scotland uses the Post Office scandal to try and stoke unjustified scandal and smear of the Scottish Government:
After independence
When Scotland regains independence it will have media organisations – and a national public broadcaster – that is regulated by the Scottish Government, not the UK from Westminster.
