Across any measure, people in Scotland believe more than those in England that Westminster doesn’t listen to them. But if you’re unemployed, working class, from an ethnic minority – or have an accent – it’s completely deaf.
Westminster runs with an antiquated, out-of-date, system. Rich donors and businesses pay the English parties millions to influence them, and give leading politicians large sums of money and gifts. Its first past the post voting system means voters in England have always decided which party of the two English parties (Tory or Labour) has control.
Is it no wonder that Westminster doesn’t listen to Scottish voters?
